Sunday 30th October, on another perfect Autumn afternoon Stourbridge were the visitors for todays Colts (U18s) League game.
After the worse of starts, conceding a Try and conversion after 2 minutes, Walsall steeled themselves and began the fightback. After a prolonged period of pressure, Walsall got their just reward 12 minutes in, when a well orchestrated driving maul pushed over the line and Tom Aston gratefully grounded the ball. Successful conversion by Zach Edwards. Score 7-7.
After that a strange remainder to the first half saw Walsall with plenty of territory and pressure but Stourbridge countered and scored two good Tries to lead. Half-time score 7-17.
The second half was a tale of errors from Walsall which led to one Penalty and two more Tries for Stourbridge without reply. With the game lost, it was encouraging to see that the slightly makeshift Walsall side (due to the number of injuries and unavailability), never gave up and showed heart right to the final whistle.
Final Score 7-32.
